Biology

The ostrich is one of the world’s largest birds. Males and females share the tasks of incubating the eggs and raising the chicks. Ostriches have a complex social system: a dominant pair take turns to incubate the eggs and care for the hatchlings; however, many of the eggs in the nest will often have been laid by other (non-dominant) hens.
