MEK – E3 T2 1 – Fossil-free energy: for example, wind power
Blow, winds! A little storm generated by muscle power can make leaves dance. There is energy even in the gentlest breeze. Let it swirl!
Like hydropower and gravity, wind is a potent planetary force. Driven by cold and warm land masses and influenced by the Earth’s rotation, air masses are constantly in motion – the winds blow.
In windy regions, this element drives huge turbines or other systems used to generate electricity – along coasts, on mountains and at sea. New materials and technologies are continuously being developed to make wind power even more efficient and sustainable.
