Conservation status

Critically endangered. The main threat to this species is from poaching.

Habitat

Semi-desert areas, savannahs, forests

Biology

Eastern black rhinos are solitary, living in established territories. Their preferred diet consists of soft leaves, branches, twigs or bark, which can be readily grasped with their hooked upper lip.
